So, guys, we did it. There are 1000 of us here. I cannot even begin to explain how thankful I am for the support. This blog hasn’t even crossed the three month mark yet, and I can’t actually get it around my head that I have 1000 blogging chums supporting this blog! Thank you so, so, so much.
Now, when we hit 500, I set up the Community Tab which has seen an incredible response and so I’ve decided that, as we go on to hit further milestones, I’m going to try and give something back to the community that has supported me. In this instance, I have created my own award: The Blogging Chums Award!!! (Named by beams19 of Crave the Unknown) What I absolutely love about this award is that, as you guys – my chums – know, this is a phrase I use quite a lot in my writing but it also symbolising everything that I love about blogging: we are just a big community of friends. The name was chosen by one of you lovely people and the logo was designed by my university/blogging chum Dressing To Impress – a special thank you to you – I couldn’t have survived uni this far without you!
And so (and I can’t believe I’m finally getting to type this!) here are the rules for the Blogging Chums Award:
About: The Blogging Chums Award is given to particularly brilliant bloggers who are really providing something special to the community, either through their writing or the way they engage with other people: they’re just brilliant!
- Be sure to use the award image!
- List the rules & about paragraph!
- Thank whoever nominated you!
- Write a letter to someone who means a lot to you to spread some positivity around the Internet – anyone will do!
- Nominate 5-10 more people for the award and go let them know about it in their comments!
Let me start by saying you’re a lot tougher on yourself than anyone else is, although you don’t see it. When I started work, I knew I was taking on a job – I just didn’t know I would be taking on one of the best friendships I could ever have asked for. Earlier today, when we were belting out Disney, Wicked and Heather Small, I realised that I feel as though I can truly be myself around very few people and you, I’m afraid, are one of them.
I’ll always be here to facetime and listen to your many, many problems because I know you’ll be there for me because damn-it you ain’t getting out of this friendship that easily. We both know that I will be singing at your wedding and you will be crying at mine.
You’re a complete moron and I love you (in a purely platonic way!)
This may seem like a bit of an odd award but I think it’s so important to tell the people closest to us how much we care about them, and in a world that is so full of hate and division, it’s the little things we do that can help make a big impact – so go tell someone you love them!
This award isn’t compulsory by any means but if you decide to take part, it would mean the world to me. I wonder if there will ever be a day when I’m scrolling through WordPress Reader and I see the Blogging Chum Award floating around on other blogs! Thank you guys so much for this support – it means the world to me, and if anyone else would like to complete the award, let me know and I’ll add your name in!!!
So, without anymore further ado, the first ever recipients of the Blogging Chums Award goes to … (mahoosive drum-roll please!)
